Here you can find instructions on how to download and install the Palm version of the Auratus Logbook.
The Palm version uses a third-party database tool called Pilot DB which is free and open-source. The Pilot-DB web site is not that easy to navigate, so to save you the trouble, I've packaged the pilot-db source files in with mine. They are: db.prc and db-colorselect.prc. These are not my files, so any problems with them should be directed at the pilot-db newsgroup. It's also worth checking the Pilot DB web site for updates once in a while.
The Palm files are contained in a self-extracting file on the download page. Save the file to your hard disk, somewhere memorable such as C:\My Documents or C:\installs.
Locate the file and double-click to extract its content to a temporary folder.
By default, winzip extracts the files to your temp folder. The exact location of this folder varies, so you can choose to extract somewhere else if you think you'll have trouble finding your temp folder.
Start your Palm install tool. If you don't know how to do this, have a look at the documentation that came with your Palm. Installing files on a Palm is beyond the scope of this simple tutorial. Add the extracted files to the list, see screenshot below.

When complete, you should have an icon on your Palm like this: |
When clicked, there are 4 tables |
The main table is 'Auratus Logbook' |

Of course, they may not be in color, unless you have a nice color Palm like a Clie ;-)
When you HotSync your Palm, copies of these files are made on your PC in a backup folder. The exact location will depend on the type of Palm and the software that came with it e.g. the location for a Sony Clie is:
C:\Program Files\Sony Handheld\[UserName]\Backup\
For the Handspring, it's: C:\Program Files\Handspring\[UserName]\Backup
You're going to need the location of these backup files, so have a look for them. You can do a search of your hard disk for *.pdb files if that helps. As I get information about more handhelds and the file locations, I'll post it here.
Start Auratus on your PC, open your logbook and click the HotSync tool button.
The first time the importer is started, it asks for the location of the Palm database file (*.pdb). This is the location of the backup file mentioned above. In the image below, the path is C:\Program Files\Sony Handheld\[UserName]\Backup\Auratus_logbook.pdb. The path to your file may be slightly different, but once you've found it, the logbook remembers the location so you only need to do this once.
Finally, click 'Import' to append the records from the .pdb file to your desktop logbook.
There are a few things to remember about the Palm importer. Transfer of data is one way i.e. from the Palm to the PC. This is not a Palm 'conduit' so any changes made to your desktop logbook will not be transferred back to the Palm. Also, changes to either the date of a record or the special 'PalmCounter' field in the desktop logbook will affect the detection of duplicate records and may result in a record being imported twice. Normally, the importer checks for records with the same date and counter and skips the import if encounters any. This way, you don't have to delete all your Palm records after an import. Of course, if your Palm logbook is getting so big that it's taking up too much space on your Palm, you can safely delete it, install a new (empty) logbook and start again. The desktop version acts as an additional backup of your data.
